After allegedly brandishing a knife and threatening to stab patrons at a Montana casino, a man was detained on Saturday.
Tyler Jay Walter, 38, was accused of tampering with evidence and assault with a weapon. According to Montana's Daily Inter Lake news source, he entered the unnamed casino on U.S. 93 in Kalispell, Mont., caused a commotion, and pulled out the knife.
According to reports, Walter threatened to stab a man—likely a customer. Then, according to the report, Walter yelled at the casino staff, "I'll stab you guys, too." After the incident, according to police, Walter allegedly threw the knife into a trash can. The report also stated that Walter had been prohibited from entering the gaming facility due to earlier incidents.
This weekend's incident did not result in any injuries, and prosecutors at Flathead County District Court were given custody of Walter's case. He could receive a sentence of up to 20 years in prison and a fine of $50,000 if found guilty.
On the arrest of the woman suspected of stealing $700,000 from the Michigan casino where she worked, new information is becoming available.
In order to deliver the loot to someone in Gary, Indiana, Danika Nicole Young, 38, who oversaw the cash cage at Four Winds Hartford Casino, allegedly stole it on July 30. She was arraigned in court last Wednesday after being charged with one count of embezzlement over $100,000.
"She had a call … from somebody that she didn’t recognize, an unknown person she had met in Gary, telling her they needed the money in a certain location and yada yada yada,” an unnamed officer told a South Haven District Court judge after her arrest warrant was signed.
It ended there. She then did. She took $700,000 out of the casino, counted it out, put it in a bag, and left the building.
"That's a lot of money to keep, I would think," Judge Arthur H. Clarke said in response to the officer. "In her teller space."
Later, Young's mother told the Michigan television station WOOD that Young is a "wonderful mother and daughter... She is a girl with manners.
"Something happened,” the mother added. “Something is not right. It’s not right.”
Young could spend up to 20 years behind bars if she is found guilty of the charge. According to online jail records, her bail was set at $1 million, and as of Wednesday, she was still being held at a local jail.
